HTC’s latest comeback bid rides on metaverse backed Desire 22 Pro – Times of India
What is Desire 22 Pro’s relation to metaverse?
The company is pitching the Desire 22 Pro as a “perfect companion” to the Vive Flow VR headset for “immersive experiences in a world where the physical, digital, and virtual interconnect — and with the capacity to run 2D and 3D content on extended reality (XR) device.” And that is all we know about the Desire 22 Pro’s metaverse capabilities. The biggest question of all is, what is so special about the Desire 22 Pro? When the Vive Flow can work with any Android smartphone.
HTC is still not done with cryptocurrency yet
With the Desire 22 Pro, HTC also wants to bank on the NFTs, at least in its home market. The Taiwanese unit of HTC is promoting that the smartphone comes with a digital wallet to trade cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Also, HTC is giving away a free NFT with the purchase of Desire 22 Pro, but again it seems to be limited to Taiwan only.
The metaverse smartphone comes with a mediocre hardware
As for the specifications, the Desire 22 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset. The chipset under the hood comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. The Desire 22 Pro features a 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz display. Lastly, it boasts a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
It will be available in the UK starting August 1 for £399. To boost its metaverse pitch, HTC is also offering a 15 per cent discount on the purchase of the Vive Flow headset. So, you can have both of them for £763 (~Rs 73,603).
