How the Saints players rated as Callum Davidson’s cup run comes to an end
Did very little wrong. Could do nothing to prevent Forrest’s winner and provided the odd big stop when required.
James Brown 7
Had to lend support to Rooney to help keep Jota quiet but even then, two players weren’t always enough to silence the Portuguese. Solid performance from the defender.
Liam Gordon 6
Handed the armband after Jason Kerr’s departure this summer and is growing in stature at the back. Did well to keep chances for Furuhashi to a minimum.
Jamie McCart 7
Composed and assured display from the former Celtic academy player. Kept things very quiet in his area of the pitch.
Shaun Rooney 4
Struggled to contain Jota throughout. Positioning gave the winger extra space in which he thrived and had a long afternoon chasing the winger’s shadow. Lucky not to have seen red.
Callum Booth 6
Promising afternoon from the full-back. Good awareness in defence kept things tight and the odd run forward caused the occasional problem for Celtic.
Craig Bryson 7
Tidy in possession and very hard working. Tested Hart with a 35-year pot-shot towards the end of the first half but Hart was alert to the danger.
Murray Davidson 6
Put a shift in and covered plenty of ground but perhaps lacked a little guile in possession at times.
David Wotherspoon 5
So often Saints’ player to unlock an opposition defence but couldn’t do so on this occasion. Was brought off early in the second half after taking a sore one.
Michael O’Halloran 6
Gave the Celtic defence little time on the ball. Almost nicked a goal by pressuring Hart and his pace made him a real threat at Hampden.
Chris Kane 6
Threw himself about as he is wont to do but will be disappointed not to have had many – if any – chances fall his way.
Substitutes
Ali Crawford (for Wotherspoon, 52) 5
Brought on to replace Wotherspoon but didn’t provide the same level of creativity.
Eetu Vertainen (for Brown, 80) 4
Came on to add some attacking impetus but struggled to make an impact.
Liam Craig (for Bryson, 80) 4
Shored up the midfield and gave Bryson a rest.
Lars Dendocker (for Rooney, 90) N/A
On for last few minutes.
