How LoveShackFancy Took Over the Plaza Hotel With a Pink! Tulle! and Feathers!
When LoveShackFancy hosts a party, it is never simply a party. Their soirees serve as a full-on immersion into a label’s fairytale world. That’s exactly what happened on Saturday night during a celebration for LSF-founder Rebecca Hessel Cohen’s 40th birthday.
The Plaza Hotel’s ballroom was transformed into a Victorian-era dream, thanks to the most glorious floral arrangements and elaborate pink bows. Of course, a few simple decorations are never enough. The magic was heightened by burlesque dancers, who were festooned with pearls and feathers—before the layers came off.
Guests, from Ivy Getty to Nell Diamond, were welcomed by the most decadent table setting covered in fresh blooms, crystal glasses, and bouquet-trimmed plates. But that was just the beginning. Perched next to the dance floor was a divine dessert table filled with not one but thirteen birthday cakes that could rival the sweets at any wedding.
The DJ kept everyone on their feet, playing tunes that included a little bit of everything, from “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris & Disciples to “What’s Love” by Ja Rule and Ashanti. At the peak of the evening, Cohen’s husband read a heartfelt poem followed by a few more performances. At one point, Cohen joined them on stage in a spectacular custom Vera Wang look anchored with an impressive tulle train.
Sure the event fell smackdab in the middle of New York Fashion week, but no matter. Hessel Cohen wanted to paint the town pink and that she did. Toward the end of the night, an aerialist was literally swinging from the chandeliers. That just about sums it all up.
