How Eiza González Gets Ready for a Fashion Week Party
Eiza González was determined not to miss this New York Fashion Week—even if that meant a chaotic flight path to get here. The actor, who was just in Venice, Italy, for the Venice Film Festival had to stop in L.A. for just 12 hours before making it to New York City for this week’s fashion festivities. Despite the jet lag, though, “it was all worth it,” says the Mexican actor. “This is my first New York Fashion Week!”
On Wednesday night, González started her jam-packed week by attending a party for Bulgari’s B.zero1 fine jewelry collection (she is a face for the label) at the Boom Boom Room downtown. “I love the new collection,” Gonzalez says. “I’ve spent so many New Year’s Eves at [the Boom Boom Room], so it was fun being there to celebrate it.” Wondering how a megawatt star such as herself gets ready for such a glitzy affair? She documented it all for Vogue.
González’s getting-ready process yesterday began with a quick exploration of Manhattan, where she stopped for coffee and lunch at Souvlaki GR. Then, she stopped to indulge in a fancy facial from an old pal. “Iván [Pol] at The Beauty Sandwich is one of my closest friends,” Gonzalez says. “He’s been prepping me for every event—when you’re like, ‘I’m bloated and need to get snatched, hunny.’”
Once caffeinated and snatched, it was time to get ready with stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, who dressed her in a chic Khaite look and Le Silla footwear. “I love the big, pleated pants and a feminine corset,” says González, who is a fan of pantsuits in general. “The older I get, the more comfortable I am in being in touch with my masculine side. I feel way more comfortable when I’m wearing pants and comfortable shoes. I also love that we live in an era where girls don’t have to be wearing skin-tight dresses to be sexy—it’s about being fun, chic, and comfortable.”As for the jewels, she wore pieces from Bulgari, of course. “I loved the chunky rings and the chain necklace,” she says. “I have always been more of a chunky jewelry type of girl. It just heightens the look. I’ll even wear sweatpants with jewelry.”
You can expect her to make a cameo at Tom Ford on Sunday, too. “I really wanted to do Tom Ford,” she says. “I love him not only as a designer, but as a director and curator. He’s just incredible. I’m so honored he invited me to the show.” Then, it’s off to jet-setting for more work obligations. “I’m filming two different things, a show and a movie,” says the actor. “I’m going to be flying across the world in the next nine months of my life. And then I’m starting to promote Ambulance with Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.” For this Hollywood A-lister, the work simply never stops.
