Houston Alexander returns to combat after 4 year layoff to brutally KO opponent at BKFC (Video)
Houston Alexander returned to combat after a four-year layoff to brutally knock out Wes Combs at BKFC 21.
MMA veteran Houston Alexander proved that ring rust may be a thing of the past after he earned a violent knockout finish in his return at BKFC 21. Alexander returned to combat sports after a four-year hiatus to absolutely destroy Wes Combs in the first round of the fight.
It had been a while since we last saw Alexander compete since he lost back-to-back fights against Rakim Cleveland in 2017 during brief stints with Primus FC and Extreme Challenge. The former UFC and Bellator fighter is still apparently at the top of his game after his incredible return to the sport.
It was a back-and-forth affair between Alexander and Combs in the opening minutes of the fight before Alexander caught his opponent with an absolute haymaker of a right hook that knocked him out cold. Alexander added an exclamation point to his performance with some vicious ground-and-pound before the referee intervened.
Check out the incredible knockout below.
49-year-old Houston Alexander is out to prove that age is just a number
Alexander is one of the most seasoned veterans in combat sports today, making his UFC debut in 2007 and his professional fighting debut all the way back in 2001. He earned a win in his first UFC appearance over Keith Jardine at UFC 71, a card headlined by Chuck Liddell and Rampage Jackson.
Alexander would also be the one to welcome Kevin Ferguson (better known as Kimbo Slice) to UFC audiences but unfortunately was on the losing end of it. He would lose by unanimous decision to Ferguson in what would be his last fight in the promotion.
With the knockout over Combs, Alexander is out to prove that he’s still a dangerous opponent for anyone at light heavyweight. Alexander’s return to the win column may be the beginning of something special for him in BKFC.
