House of Dagmar Stockholm Spring 2022 Collection
The House of Dagmar might be known for its minimal aesthetic, but it’s anything but an impersonal brand. Not only is it named after the three founding sisters’ grandmother, but it’s informed by their own city lives. “We are very close to nature up here and the way of life we have here is really what we are trying to make clothes for,” said Sofia Wallenstam.
There’s “a big difference between the Danish brands and the Swedish brands,” she continued. “It’s easy to say Scandinavian brands, but we’re a Swedish brand.” In a certain mold, that is. The sophistication traditionally associated with the Stockholm look—and with the House of Dagmar—is still alive and well, but the fashion landscape is changing fast, as a look at any of the recent student shows demonstrates.
Work-to-dinner dressing is the label’s sweet spot. This season, the trio focused on sets as well as suits. The mix-and-match styling is part of their overall approach to sustainability. In addition to using responsible fabrics, they’re offering pieces that work across seasons. Neutral tones are a signature; providing contrast here is a chocolate-color suede coat, and pieces in candy-apple red. A red-and white striped ensemble is particularly playful. Texture and transparency also add interest to solid hues. Knits were the collection’s starting point, and this spring’s offerings look especially cool—in all senses of the word.
