Horror moment rogue horse causes mayhem

Racing pundits were left in shock when a loose horse caused carnage at a British track, forcing a helpless jockey into a nasty fall.

This is the horror moment a loose horse caused carnage at Fakenham and forced jockey Jamie Moore into a nasty fall.

Moore was sent crashing to the turf after Canyon City ran among the runners.

Jockey Jack Quinlan came off the Neil King-trained Canyon City at the 12th fence of the Class 3 three mile contest.

At that point it was down to Moore, Sam Twiston-Davies on Minella Encore and David Bass on Rocky‘s Treasure to fight it out for the finish.

But as Bass weakened, Moore, on a horse trained by his dad Gary, and Twiston-Davies went eye to eye.

Yet as they thundered towards the last, a loose Canyon City charged at them.

Video showed Minella Encore swerving out the way while Moore had nowhere to go but down from his mount.

Moore, who had that infamous unseating from Goshen when the horse had the Triumph Hurdle at his mercy in the 2020 Cheltenham Festival, smashed into the turf.

That allowed Twiston-Davies to cruise home on Minella Encore for a nice present on his 29th birthday.

Punters watching couldn‘t believe what they had just witnessed.

One said: “Closest thing racing gets to the WWE.”

Fortunately all jockeys and horses were OK after the terrifying incident.

That was a big relief for Moore especially – the jumps jockey broke his back in a fall at Fontwell in August last year.

That left him fearing his career could be over and led to two rods being inserted in his back before he made a full recovery.
