‘He’s gonna be here’: Jets general manager Joe Douglas insists the team will get Aaron Rodgers

‘He’s gonna be here!’: Jets general manager Joe Douglas delights crowd in New York by revealing on stage that Aaron Rodgers WILL be joining them… after weeks of silence on blockbuster trade

New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas tried to quell fans fears that a deal for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be stalling

Jets fans have been sitting in anticipation of getting their new franchise quarterback for weeks after Rodgers declared he’d like to move to Florham Park.

Despite his public disclosure of a trade request on The Pat McAfee Show back on March 15, Rodgers has not gotten any closer to being moved out of Green Bay.

But in a public appearance alongside CBS NFL analyst Boomer Esiason at an event for New York sports radio station WFAN, Douglas cut to the chase.

When Esaison asked if Rodgers was going to eventually join Gang Green, Douglas responded, ‘He’s gonna be here’, leading to cheers from the crowd.

Rodgers said the Jets and Packers are now working on compensation for the player’s services

It’s been over three weeks since Rodgers went on his friend McAfee’s show to tell the world that he wanted out of Green Bay and wished to move to the New York-metro area.

‘My intention is to play for the New York Jets,’ Rodgers told McAfee, confirming reports that he had requested a move to the Jets rather than return to the Packers or retire after 18 NFL seasons.

‘I haven’t been holding anything up at this point,’ Rodgers added while claiming to have received interest from other teams. ‘It’s been compensation that the Packers are trying to get for me, and kinda digging their heels in.’

The Jets were poised for a possible playoff spot in the early weeks of the 2022 season, however, their lack of a consistent quarterback through sloppy play by Zach Wilson and injuries to Mike White saw them fall out of contention.
