Hero Tri-Nation International Friendly Football Tournament kicks off this evening at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal

The Hero Tri-Nation International Friendly Football Tournament organised under the aegis of All India Football Federation (AIFF) kicked off this evening at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended the inaugural ceremony of the tournament in which football teams from Myanmar, India and Kyrgyz Republic are participating. The inaugural match is being played between India and Myanmar. In the India team, seven footballers from Manipur are participating in the tournament.

Despite the bad weather and intermittent rainfall in the State from the past few days, thousands of football fans thronged to the stadium and the Main Stadium is fully packed. The tournament will continue till 28th of this month.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced that the State Government will sign an MoU with AIFF for establishment of a Football Academy in the State.
