Here’s when Twitter may add the edit button for tweets – Times of India

Microblogging platform Twitter may launch the edit button for tweets on September 21 for public testing, as per Casey Newton of Platformer. Newton’s claims are based upon internal documents that he said he’s seen. He also said that the feature will be restricted only to Twitter Blue for now and for the present, the rollout will be limited to Twitter Blue customers in New Zealand.

Twitter, at the beginning of September, had announced that it was testing the “Edit Tweet” feature internally and that it would be made available to Twitter Blue subscribers in the weeks to come. Twitter Blue already comes with an “undo” button and the edit tweet button gives Twitter Blue users in select countries a privilege normal users don’t have, at least for some time from now. Twitter Blue is currently available only in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia and has not come to India yet. After New Zealand, the microblogging platform is very likely to introduce it in the US, Canada and Australia.
With the help of this feature, users will be able to make changes to their tweets within 30 minutes of posting them. And the changes would be reportedly done only five times during that period but that’s not yet confirmed.
Your followers will know if the tweet was edited
For those who follow you, the edited tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label, clearly stating that the tweet has been edited. If someone ends up tapping the timestamp, they will be able to see the complete edit history of the tweet. Twitter says that the time limit and version history helps “protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly accessible record of what was said.”
