Helen says actresses copied her style after her popularity: Quite a number of heroines would do what I would do – Times of India

Helen was the reining beauty of her days and her onscreen presence was apparently envied by many! In a recent interaction, the veteran actress opened up about how her contemporaries would copy her style.
Speaking about her journey in front of the camera, Helen told Arbaaz Khan on his show The Invincibles, “See, I was very lucky to continue dancing till the age of 42, which is a big thing. Nowadays, they’re so pretty, they’re so beautiful, they dance so well, but they just come and go… In those days, they used to think that one should stay away from the film industry because it was not good. But the industry wasn’t as open as it is now. In those days, things would happen under the table. If you commanded respect, you got it.” Speaking about competition, she added, “The heroines practically took over. They started wearing clothes that no heroine in those days would wear. They would wear sarees and teekas and all that, but the heroines changed. Quite a number of heroines would do what I would do.” Helen also revealed that because of this, she was getting less work, but she accepted the same and started doing international shows.
In her career spanning decades, Helen has featured in several hit songs and movies. She has worked alongside step son Salman Khan in hits like ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’ (1996) and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
