NEW DELHI: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli has revealed his role on the emergence of rising star Shubman Gill, saying the young opener has an amazing skill set at his age and is primed to perform well in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia starting on Wednesday at The Oval in London.
Gill, who has made a name for himself across all three formats of the game in the past year, showcased his exceptional talent with a remarkable ODI double-century against New Zealand earlier this year. This record-breaking knock marked a significant milestone in his career.

Gill’s phenomenal run continued in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he displayed his prowess with the bat. The young cricketer notched up three centuries and amassed a staggering total of 890 runs throughout the tournament. His outstanding performance earned him the distinction of being the top scorer in the league.

“These tags of king and prince and all of that kind of thing are great for the public and spectators to see, but I think the job of any senior player is to help improve the youngsters and give them the insight you have had throughout your career.

“As long as a guy is keen to learn like him he is going to be fine as he wants to learn how to do this for a long time at the highest level and perform consistently.
“He is a lovely kid and he is playing amazingly well and I wish he continues the same in this Test match.”
