Haryana’s Pooja Rani sails into quarterfinals of Women’s National Boxing Championship
Hisar: Reigning Asian champion Pooja Rani of Haryana entered the quarterfinals of the 5th Women’s National Boxing Championship after a dominant win in the 81kg category here on Sunday. World youth champions Nitu of Haryana and Ankushita Boro of Assam maintained their winning streak as they confirmed their places in the quarterfinals of the 48kg and 66kg categories.

Axelsen, Yamaguchi win Denmark Open titles
Reigning Olympics champion Viktor Axelsen beat world No. 1 Kento Momota in a three-game thriller to win the men’s singles Denmark Open title here today. Home favourite Axelsen, the second seed, beat the Japanese top seed 20-22 21-18 21-12 in 63 minutes. In women’s singles, second seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan won the title after her opponent, South Korea’s An Seyoung, retired while training 5-16 in the third game. An had won the first game 21-18 before Yamaguchi took the second 25-23.

Kontaveit, Karatsev win Kremlin Cup titles
Anett Kontaveit twice came back from the brink of defeat to beat Ekaterina Alexandrova 4-6 6-4 7-5 and win the Kremlin Cup today to stay in contention for a place at the WTA Finals. Kontaveit turned the second set around from 0-4 down and mounted another comeback to win the decider with a break of serve when Alexandrova served for the match at 5-4 up.
