Harry Kane has a basketball fail – followed by a quick success – as the Tottenham talisman avoids all transfer speculation amid Bayern Munich’s rejected bid of £70m
Harry Kane has shown off his basketball skills in an Instagram video – although the first of his shots left a lot to be desired.
The England captain and Tottenham talisman has been one of the most talked about players in the off-season, with repeated rumours linking him with a move to either Manchester United or Bayern Munich.
But the 29-year-old does not seem to be focusing on the speculation, instead enjoying his off-season by playing a different ball sport.
Kane captioned his Instagram post: ‘Haters will say it’s fake’, alongside emojis of a pair of eyes, a laughing face and a basketball.
It starts with the Spurs forward shaping up for a long-distance throw to the basket – but it is so high it bounces off the ceiling.

Fortuitously for the England captain, the ball landed in his hands and he was able to make the basket from a less impressive distance, but still showing off his accuracy with his hands, after years of showcasing his pinpoint footwork for club and country.
Basketball is not the only American sport that Kane has shown an interest in. In May, Kane confirmed his desire to be an NFL kicker one day.
Speaking to Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan on GMA Wednesday, Kane remarked: ‘It’s something I want to definitely explore. I know it’ll be a lot of hard work; I’m not expecting to just walk up and start kicking field goals.
In addition to his basketball skills, Kane has revealed his ambition to be an NFL kicker one day
‘It’ll be a lot of practice, a lot of hard work, but, yeah, it’s something I’d love to do. The NFL is something I’ve been following for about 10 years now, and I love it. So, I’d love to give it a go.’
On Monday, new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed that he had no assurances that Kane would be lining up in a Tottenham shirt for the 2023-24 season.
Simon Jones had earlier revealed that the club were poised to reject a £70m offer from Bayern Munich, as Tottenham value Kane significantly higher than that bid.
