Halo Infinite surprise release and how to play
Gamers were treated to a huge surprise this morning with the release of Halo Infinite almost a month earlier than scheduled.
Microsoft has stunned the gaming world with the surprise release of Halo Infinite.
The latest edition of the iconic series was slated for release in December but Microsoft surprised fans as part of Xbox’s 20-year anniversary celebrations.
The edition released today is a beta version of the game and will likely be tinkered with. The game’s creators said in a statement a complete version is on track for release on December 8.
“Our previous Multiplayer Technical Previews went a long way to battle-testing our services and infrastructure. But as we prepare for a significant increase in the number of players jumping into Halo Infinite on launch day, December 8th, we want to ensure all our systems are good-to-go,” it said.
“While you may experience some bumps and bugs during this beta period, it does mark the official start of Halo Infinite Season 1, with all day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass.”
The cross-platform multiplayer mode should be live for all Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC users. It is available to Game Pass users.
Xbox said any progress in the beta mode will carry over to the launch day.
There have been some hurdles as thousands attempt to download the game. Halo community director Brian Jarrard confirmed that some players were experiencing errors on launch since “the build is still publishing and rolling out.”
November 15th is 20 years since the original Xbox debuted alongside Halo: Combat Evolved.
