Hair Scarf? Lorde Brings a Delightful Winter Look to the Red Carpet
Avant-garde accessorizing is good. Avant-garde accessorizing with one’s own hair? Better. This point was proved with aplomb by Lorde, who owned the red carpet at last night’s 2021 Guggenheim International Gala with an out-of-the-box “updo” that found her own brunette lengths wound around her neck.
To accompany her sienna-hued Dior gown—pulled from the Fall 2018 Couture collection—hairstylist Cameron Rains separated Lorde’s straightened mane at the center before snaking it around her neck, the style secured in a ponytail that hung between her shoulder blades. The resulting tie-back, neatly tucked behind each ear, framed the pop star’s visage in its entirety, pulling focus to her lids and lips, which were touched in peachy hues punctuated by bold brows and silver ear adornments. Glowing skin served as the look’s finisher, elements combining to transform a would-be quirky move into something undeniably chic. Even better? The singer’s performance saw her model an additional ensemble that included a pair of braids adorned with auburn ribbons tied into bows.
Searching for a winter beauty look destined to turn heads? Make like Lorde and make use of your lengths.
