In slouchy parachute pants, crop tops, leather jackets and slimline sunglasses, the model and beauty mogul regularly references the casual style codes of the Noughties while out and about in L.A. But come nighttime, Hailey is all about the ’80s: from sheer black tights, to thigh-grazing minidresses and outré bling.
Hailey is a fan of the statement belts that were popular during the era—she had a Sandy from Grease moment in waist-cinching Schiaparelli earlier this year, and sported a Saint Laurent belt and micro-shorts last month. And this week, Hailey wore a strapless LBD emblazoned with a dazzling buckle round her chest (rather than her waist), from partywear favorite, 16Arlington.
She’s fallen for the London-based brand’s designs before, including its cult body-skimming sequined Solaria dress, so it comes as no surprise she’s a fan of the Althenea mini. With its simple yet daring silhouette and retro embellishment, the mini ticks off everything she typically looks for in a dress.
Hailey made the LBD her own with her signature low-denier tights, pumps and slicked-back bun. According to Hailey and the many other stars that have channelled retro style of late—count Katie Holmes and Taylor Russell in too—the ’80s are back, baby.
