Gumraah box office collection Day 3: Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur starrer has a dull first weekend – Times of India

‘Gumraah’, the Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur starrer, had a dull first weekend at the domestic box office as it failed to cross the Rs 5 crore nett mark. The film began its box office run on a slow start, earning just around Rs 3.90 crore nett, states a report on boxofficeindia.com.
Despite the extended holiday weekend, the film did not see much growth at the box office. The movie earned an estimated Rs 1.10 crore on day 1 and followed it up with a collection of Rs 1.25 crore. The film ended its first weekend at the box office with a collection of Rs 1.50 crore on Sunday.

According to reports, the film’s performance matched the collections of Aditya’s ‘Rashtra Kavach – Om’ which was released last year.

‘Gumraah’ revolves around a murder and a cop’s resolve to find the truth and the real culprit in the case. Mrunal Thakur plays investigating officer Shivani Mathur who is on a mission to solve the murder mystery. It is a remake of the 2019 Tamil film ‘Thadam’.

‘Gumraah’ features Aditya in a double role along with Ronit Roy and Deepak Kalra. Mrunal recently opened up about her role in the film and said, “Playing a tough cop was a new experience for me. I had to put in a lot of effort to get into the skin of the character, but it was worth it. I am glad that the audience has appreciated my performance.”

“I have always loved taking chances and doing unconventional roles, and I am glad that my choices have paid off. When I hear compliments about the film’s engaging second half, and how my role contributed to it, it makes me feel great as a performer. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring impactful characters to life on screen,” she added.
