Gucci and The New York Academy of Art Hosted its Annual Hamptons Drawing Party

Late last week, artists and those attempting to give drawing a go attended the New York Academy of Art’s annual Hamptons Drawing Party, which was presented by Gucci.

Each year, the Academy lures a crowd to a science Hamptons locale who gets schooled on the fundamentals of Drawing 101 by a contemporary artist. This year, the en plein air class instructor was Will Cotton, and the location was the home of Steven Gambrel and his partner James Anderson in Sag Harbor.

On the lawn of the expectedly well-appointment home were easels and nude art models who positioned themselves to be studied and drawn. And, like most years, certain guests revealed themselves to be Manets in the making while others, well, did not.

And just as phones were kept tucked away to shield the nude artists, we won’t reveal whose work achieved what. Overall, guests included Candace Bushnell, Donna Karan, Brooke Shields, Fabiola Beracasa, Joyce Varvatos, Anna Chapman, Simone Levinson, Eileen Guggenheim, Gabby Karan, Ali Wentworth, Nicole Miller, Polina Proshkina, and Tom Delavan.

The event ended with a special announcement from David Kratz, President of the Academy, that Gucci has generously endowed a scholarship at the Academy for an art student. All in all, a lovely way to support the next generation of talent.
