Grinspoon sing hit song with lyrics about taking drugs on a Sunday as pre-game entertainment for rare Sunday night State of Origin game
Whoever organised the pre-game entertainment for State of Origin game two in Perth could be in trouble after Grinspoon sang a song featuring lyrics about taking illegal drugs on a Sunday.
The Aussie rockers performed their hit Hard Act to Follow, which contains the words ‘kills, thrills and Sunday pills’ in the chorus.

Taking pills is slang for taking ecstasy or MDMA – a fact that obviously escaped the people in charge of booking the band and overseeing what they would perform.
Origin games are almost always held on a Wednesday night, so the rarity of a Sunday match might have influenced the choice of tune, which was released on the band’s 2004 album Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills.
