Google to shut down this app next year: All the details – Times of India

Google timely shut down its apps and products as they failed to gain traction. The company is now all set to shut down another app. Google has confirmed that it is shutting down its dedicated Street View app on Android. The tech giant will keep the street view feature in its navigation app Google Maps.
In a notice, Google confirmed that the Street View app is shutting down on March 31, 2023.
The company is also encouraging users to either switch from Google Maps to Street View Studio in order to access the features of the Street View app.
“Street View App is going away. The app is going away and support will end on March 21, 2023. To publish your own 360 videos, switch to Street View Studio. To view Street View and add Photo Spheres, use Google Maps,” said Google.
Users can access almost all the features of the Street View app on Google Maps except for one. With the shutdown of the app, the company is also completely shutting down the ‘Photo Paths’ feature of the Street View app. Introduced last year, Photo Paths allowed anyone with a smartphone to contribute simple 2D photos of a road or path which Street View has not documented.
For the uninitiated, Google’s Street View app offers a 360-degree look at almost any street on the planet. The app enables users to explore their new travel destination or any street in the world from the comfort of their homes. Google introduced the Street View feature in India in 2011 but in 2016, it was banned by the government over security concerns.
