Google Play turns 10: New logo, reward points and more – Times of India
There was a time when apps were these all-consuming entities in the digital world. Back in March 2012, Google had something called Android Market. Better sense – and nomenclature – prevailed and it was later rebranded as Google Play. Today, Google is celebrating 10 years of Google Play, and it is making a few cosmetic changes.

Google Play has been redesigned with a new logo that gives it a fresh look. The search engine giant has slightly tweaked the logo. However the colour combination remains the same, but the changes that can be highly witnessed are the less vibrant colours which are green, yellow, blue and red which resemble very much the other Google apps.
Tian Lim, vice president of Google Play said, “We’re introducing a new logo that better reflects the magic of Google and matches the branding shared by many of our helpful products — Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more.”
The new logo also marks the 10 years of Google Play after it got its new name from Android Market in 2012.
“A decade later, more than 2.5 billion people in over 190 countries use Google Play every month to discover apps, games and digital content,” says Lim. “And more than 2 million developers work with us to build their businesses and reach people around the globe,” added Tian Lim.
Considering its 10th anniversary, Google Play is offering Google Play Points to its users. Once activated, the user will earn 10x points on purchases, the majority of which includes in-app purchases.
