Google launches Startup School India for early-stage products

Google has launched
Startup School India – a Google for startups initiative designed to organise knowledge about the startup world into a structured curriculum and deliver it across a wide footprint.

The nine-week virtual programme will feature fireside chats between Google leaders and collaborators from across the startup ecosystem spanning fintech, direct-to-consumer (D2C), B2B and B2C e-commerce, language, social media & networking, and job search, among others.

The curriculum will feature instructional modules on subjects such as shaping an effective product strategy, deep dives on product user value, road mapping & PRD development, building apps for the next billion users in markets such as India, and driving user acquisition.

“The Startup School is an excellent initiative to reach founders at scale in India. As more young, tech-savvy founders start to build their businesses, it’s important that the fundamentals of company-building are well thought to help the founders build for the long-term,” said Yadav, chief marketing officer, Sequoia India, and Southeast Asia, and one of the collaborators in the programme.

The virtual programme is expected to provide opportunities for founders to gain orthogonal insights from discussions around what makes an effective founder and formalizing hiring.

“Google has believed in giving back to the startup ecosystem and this initiative lives the spirit. After working with thousands of startups, they understand the need gaps, which they intend to bridge through their Startup School initiative,” said another collaborator Varun Alagh, who is the co-founder of Mamaearth.
