Google is adding the app permissions section back to the Play Store, here’s why – Times of India

Earlier this week, Google started removing an important section from Play Store called App Permissions. The section used to offer users an insight into what permissions the app requires or has access to. Android Policce has reported that Google has confirmed that they will roll back the changes and soon the App Permissions will be back in the Play Store via Android Developers’ Twitter handle
The tweet reads, “Privacy and transparency are core values in the Android community. We heard your feedback that you find the app permissions section in Google Play useful, and we’ve decided to reinstate it. The app permissions section will be back shortly.”
For those who don’t know, Google replaced the App Permissions in favour Data Safety section. The section is expected to tell users more insight about the app such as what data it collects and how those data are being used. However, the only issue with that is that information is claimed to come from developers and not Google. Removal of the app permissions view left users no other way to check whether the Data Safety section is accurate or not.
Google has mentioned that they are reverting the changes as per users’ feedback. We checked and it hasn’t come back as of now. However, we assume that it will take a while before Google finally rolls back the change in Play Store.
