Google in the next release of Chrome will be launching an ML model which will help the browser to automatically block the undesired notifications. Check details here.
Google Chrome is a web browser that you can use to browse the internet. As per the latest updates Google Chrome will soon automatically block annoying website pop-ups. Google in its latest blog post shared some recent and future machine learning (ML) improvements that offer a safer, more accessible and more personalised browsing experience. “Safe Browsing in Chrome helps protect billions of devices every day, by showing warnings when people try to navigate to dangerous sites or download dangerous files,” Google said. And now to further improve the browsing experience, Google is evolving how people interact with web notifications.
Notifications can play the role of both- it can be useful to know the updates from sites you care about, while unnecessary notification permission prompts can become a nuisance. To help people browse the web with minimal interruption, Chrome predicts when permission prompts are unlikely to be granted based on how the user previously interacted with similar permission prompts, and silences these undesired prompts. In the next release of Chrome, Google will be launching an ML model that makes these predictions entirely on-device. However, the date for the same is not yet known. This is not all, Google has also informed about the other updates it will be bringing to Chrome. Earlier this year Google had launched Journeys to help people retrace their steps online. With ML and Journeys, Chrome brings together the pages you have visited about a given topic, and makes it easy to pick up where you left off. Google is also using ML to make those websites available in your preferred language.
Informing about the same, the blog post read, “We’ve launched an updated language identification model to figure out the language of the page, and whether it needs to be translated to match your preferences. It further said that in the near future, it will be using ML to adjust the toolbar in real-time – highlighting the action that’s most useful in that moment (e.g., share link, voice search, etc.). Also, Chrome users will be able to customize it manually.
