Google announces new tiles, app features for Wear OS smartwatches – Times of India
New tiles for the Weather app
The Wear OS version of Google’s weather app will soon get two new tiles for Sunrise and Sunset to complement the system watch face complication available in Google’s first-ever smartwatch — Pixel Watch.
These tiles will note the time of both daily events and will also show a countdown toward each. The bottom part of your smartwatch screen will also display the day’s progress with an arc that will feature the Sun.
Favourites tile in the Contacts app
Google has also added a new tile for the Wear OS version of the Contacts app. The Favourites tile in Contacts shows up to five people’s profile images on your smartwatch display. Moreover, this tile will also feature a shortcut button to open the full Google Contacts app.
Improved Google Keep app for Wear OS
In September, Googe rolled out the initial Material You redesign for the Keep app on Wear OS. Now, the company is adding an improved notes feed to the app. Currently, Wear OS users can see pill-shaped cards that can show up to two lines of text.
The new update will be able to show previews of up to four lines of text (title + three more). Previews in the upgraded Google Keep app will also support background colours and a default set of illustrations.
The feed in the Google Keep app already shows supports image previews. However, this new improvement will enable support for drawings and claims to let users see multiple image previews (which will also appear taller), simultaneously.
Google Keep will also start showing collaborators as profile avatars on the main feed, as well as at the bottom of the notes section in the app. Moreover, users will also be able to see any labels that they’ve added before the Add Reminder, Pin, or Archive buttons. The company may also introduce transparent backgrounds for notes in the new version of the app.
Changes in Adidas Running app
Apart from this, the Adidas Running Wear OS app (which is a third-party application) will also get a new ability. This app will soon let users access Google Assistant if they want to quickly jump into an exercise.
Google mentions that users will have to say “Hey Google, start a run with Adidas Running” to access this feature. On saying this, the app will open and start tracking your workout, speed, distance and heart rate with a built-in sensor.
