Google announces accelerator programme for women-led startups

New Delhi: Google India on Tuesday announced the launch of the Google for Startups Accelerator Women Founders programme, a cohort-based accelerator for women-led startups in India.

The programme will focus on issues such as access to networks, funding, hiring challenges, mentorship, and many more that female founders face due to a variety of factors, including low representation. The programme will also feature courses and support in areas like as artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), cloud, UX, Android, web, product strategy and growth, as well as access to a worldwide community of women founders.

Up to 20 Indian startups founder or cofounded by women will be accepted into the first batch of the programme, which will support them for three months.

The programme is part of a larger effort by Google to increase the representation of women in various aspects of India’s digitally trained workforce, such as entrepreneurship, professional upskilling, and young graduates looking for a head start, with the ultimate goal of making technology universally relevant and helpful.
