Go First’s RP invites bids, founder Wadia grp in fray – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Suspense over Go First’s future may lift next month with the grounded airline’s resolution professional (RP) Shailendra Ajmera on Monday inviting expressions of interest as part of the insolvency proceedings. It is learnt the budget airline’s founder Wadia Group may bid for the airline.
The deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest (EoIs) is August 9 and the final list of prospective resolution applicants will be declared on August 19, according to the public notice. The last date for submitting any objections to the provisional list is August 24.
Wadias did not comment if they will bid for the airline.
Meanwhile, Go First is having legal battles with lessors whose aircraft it has retained under the insolvency rules as India is yet to fully implement an international convention where airlines going belly up can’t hold back leased planes under provisions of other laws. Lessors have got nod to inspect their planes and Go has been restrained from using spare parts from one plane on other. Go is opposing this.
The airline had on May 2 filed for bankruptcy and suspended all its flights fromMay 3. Subsequently, its former CEO Kaushik Khona, authorised by the then RP, had submitted a revival plan for the airline that envisages resuming operations with 26 aircraft and Rs 450 crore funding from creditors. Subsequenly, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducted a special audit of Go First at Delhi and Mumbai Airports from July 4 to 6 to check its readiness to resume operations.
