Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez smashes Dominic Boesel’s body for KO (Video)
Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez had his way with Dominic Boesel at Toyota Arena and scored a round 4 KO with a terrific body shot.
To no one’s surprise, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez easily defeated Dominic Boesel in their WBA light heavyweight title eliminator on May 14 on DAZN.
Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) scored his fifth knockout in a row since moving up to light heavyweight in 2019. He held the WBO super middleweight title before moving up in weight.
Boesel (32-3, 12 KOs) was little-known outside of his home country of Germany. He had only fought three times outside of Germany before fighting Ramirez at Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA.
Ramirez had Boesel moving back the entire fight. His southpaw stance gave Boesel major problems as Ramirez’s right hand scored low and high.
Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez defeated Dominic Boesel via round 4 KO and is now Dmitry Bivol’s mandatory challenger
Ramirez’s best weapon was his lead right hook to the body, which landed repeatedly. He connected with it again early in round 4, and Boesel sank to the canvas.
Boesel popped back up, but the referee saw enough and called the right giving Ramirez the round 4 KO victory.
The referee warned Boesel before round 4 that he needed to see more from home, but nothing ever came.
Ramirez is now WBA champion Dmitry Bivol’s mandatory challenger. Bivol defeated Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision.
If Bivol and Alvarez fight in a rematch, Ramirez will have to wait for a title shot. If the rematch doesn’t happen, Ramirez could be next for Bivol.
