Giants hero Hunter Pence pimps home run, trolls Dodgers in Celebrity Softball Game (Video)
Hunter Pence played for four teams during his extended MLB career, but he’s most well-known for his time with the San Francisco Giants. He made that clear on Saturday.
The celebrity softball game during the All-Star Break has been greeted with waning popularity in recent years, in part because the celebrities aren’t really celebrities, and quite frankly aren’t very good at baseball.
Pence just changed all that. The longtime San Francisco Giant looked out of place in a Dodgers jersey, and made sure to rip it off after hitting a long home run over the shortened fence.
Pence still has MLB power, as that one almost went over the centerfield fence.
Giants: Hunter Pence stays loyal at Dodger Stadium
To be fair to Pence, he was facing former Dodger Andre Ethier, who threw the first pitch behind him to send a message. So, not only did Pence pimp a home run in front of Dodgers fans, he also did so as a direct response to Ethier, who really should have seen this coming considering it was slow-pitch softball.
Pence was a four-time All-Star — twice with San Francisco — and won two World Series by the Bay. He’s an obscure name, and one who had some unique talents. For awhile, Pence was known as the most interesting man in baseball, and for good reason.
On Saturday night, Pence proved he’s still relevant in the game today, even at the All-Star Celebrity game in Los Angeles, of all places.
