Gerard Pique has been sent off in the very last game of his playing career for arguing with the referee.
The 35-year-old defender, who announced he was hanging up his boots last week, was dismissed at half-time during Barcelona’s LaLiga match at Osasuna after confronting officials as they left the pitch.
Pique was sent off in the tunnel by referee Jesus Gil Manzano and so will not be involved in his farewell appearance having been named among Barcelona’s substitutes.
It capped a stormy first-half in which Robert Lewandowski was also dismissed for picking up two yellow cards in the space of 19 minutes.

He proceeded to follow the officials down the tunnel, where he was given his marching orders
Having been booked for an early challenge on Ignacio Vidal, Lewandowski was sent off for an elbow-first barge on David Garcia.
And it seems Pique was infuriated by the decision to send off the Polish striker, venting his anger at Manzano as he walked off at the break.
