Gautam Adani wealth soars over $100 billion, becomes 6th richest in world – Times of India
Adani entered the $100 billion wealth club on April 4 and is now the only Indian in Bloomberg’s top 10 global billionaires list.
He is also the richest billionaire in Asia, as per a report by Forbes.
The 59-year-old is now a centi-billionaire and has joined the likes of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates to hold fortunes above $100 billion.
Tesla chief Elon Musk continues to the richest person in the world with a total net worth of $249 billion. While, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is placed at 2nd spot with a wealth of $176 billion.
Adani’s wealth soared after its green energy arm — Adani Green Energy — entered the list of top-10 valued firms as its market valuation zoomed over Rs 4.22 lakh crore, backed by a sharp rally in its share price.
Shares of the company have rallied 103.46 per cent so far this year.
Besides, reports of Abu Dhabi-based conglomerate International Holding Company investing $2 billion in three green-focused companies of Adani Group has further boosted investor sentiments.
Adani Enterprises Ltd, the group’s flagship firm, will get Rs 7,700 crore ($1.02 billion) by issuing preferential shares to IHC, while Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) and Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) will receive Rs 3,850 crore each via the same equity instrument, the group had said in a statement.
Shares of Adani Green Energy had jumped 16.25 per cent on April 11 after the statement was released during the day. The share closed 3.25 per cent higher at Rs 2,789 on the BSE at close of trade today.
Apart from Adani, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is the only Indian in top 15 richest list.
With a wealth of $97.4 billion, Ambani is placed at 11th position. He is currently the 2nd richest Asian, followed by Zhong Shanshan of China at 3rd spot.
