Gary Neville criticises the Glazers for taking £11million out of Manchester United in dividends 

Gary Neville has criticised the Glazer family for taking £11million out of the club in dividends.

United’s shareholders are in line to earn significant payouts after the club revealed their financial results.

Neville is livid that United’s owners are performing such an action when significant investment in the club is required.

The former right-back believes that the Glazers shouldn’t take any dividends for at least the next three years. 

Neville wrote on Twitter: ‘The Glazer Family should NOT be taking £11m in dividends this Friday. It isn’t right with the investment needed in the team,stadium and training ground. 

‘The clubs cash position is low compared to previous years. An announcement is needed to halt it for the next 3 years minimum.’

United’s financial report, which was posted last month, showed that the club’s net debt had gone up by £52million to £496million. In total the club’s debt now stands at £591million.

Despite a woeful season in which United finished in sixth place in the Premier League, they have yet to make any signings during the summer transfer window.

As Neville alluded to, United also require investment in Old Trafford and their training ground. 

Last weekend during a meeting with fans at his local pub, United chief executive Arnold admitted United had ‘burned through cash’, describing the last 12 months as a ‘f***ing nightmare’.
