Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher said: (It’s) one of the best performances of the season. A privilege to watch.

Fellow pundit Micah Richards was also complimentary of Kane’s performance. He said: ‘It’s performances like today that show he is still one of the best around. He looks back to the Kane of old.’

Kane was left delighted after the game but he warned his team-mates ‘it’s not a time to get too Carried away’.

‘Crazy game, We worked so hard for so long and to concede the late penalty was heart-breaking. Credit to the boys, they found another chance. It showed what the Premier League is all about,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘For me it (motivation) was three losses in a row and we had to find a way to get our season back on track. Everyone worked their socks off today. Me scoring the goal will get the headlines but everyone was outstanding.’

On pressure from the media, Kane said: ‘Not just from the media point of view but from our points as well. We got ourselves in a position to fight for the top 4 then not just losing but the way we lost. Football is about bouncing back. The performance of today showed we are fighting till the end.

‘It’s not a time to get too carried away. We’ve had games like this before and we’ve got to learn to be consistent over the season. Of course we will enjoy it but every game is a hard game.’
