Game 7 referee assignments point to trouble for Heat vs. Celtics
The referee assignments for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night could spell trouble for the Miami Heat against the Boston Celtics.
For NBA conspiracy theorists looking for a bit of possibly positive news for the Heat, it’s notable that Goble was born and raised in Miami and still lives in South Beach. Goble is in his 16th NBA season and attended Florida International University.
Foster is in his 29th season and is well known for a fan-perceived rivalry with Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul. Foster is also widely known as “The Extender,” for an apparent knack for purposely making bad calls in order to prolong playoff series.
Like Foster, Brothers is in his 29th season.
Aside from the referee assignments which are evidently in favor of Boston, all of the momentum is on the Celtics’ side.
Jayson Tatum and company are looking to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a postseason series. After losing Games 1 and 2 at home and then getting blown out in Game 3 in Miami, Boston won Game 4 on the road by double digits. They returned home to earn another double-digit victory before winning Game 6 on the road in dramatic fashion, as Derrick White tipped in a buzzer-beating, game-winning bucket to force a pivotal Game 7.
Game 7 will tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
