Thiago Alcantara could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer, with Turkish giants Galatasaray linked with a move for the Spanish midfielder, according to reports.

Thiago has struggled to replicate the form that won him widespread plaudits at Bayern Munich, with his minutes disrupted by injuries over his three seasons at Anfield.

He has been ruled out 62 games in total since signing at the start of the 2020-21 campaign, and now with the Reds bringing in two new midfielders Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hungary star Dominik Szoboszlai, he appears to have slipped down the pecking order.

Having already invested heavily this summer, the club may therefore look to cash in on a player with just a year left on his contract, in a bid to recoup some of the £95million they have spent.

Turkish outlet Fanatik reports that Galatasaray have held multiple conversations with the player over a potential move this summer.

The report also claims that the Turkish side’s vice president Erden Timur has made the trip to Liverpool in an attempt to lure the Spaniard to the Turkish Super Lig.

It is further thought that Galatasaray have even tabled what is considered to be a ‘good offer’ for the 32-year-old’s services, which may prove too good to turn down.

While a move away from a club like Liverpool would surely signal a step down in quality, Galatasaray can offer the Spanish international Champions League football next season.

As winners of the Turkish Super Lig last term, Okan Buruk’s side qualified for Europe’s Premier Competition – something Liverpool failed to achieve in 2022-23.

At Galatasaray Thiago would also find a host of names with pedigree at the highest level, including Mauro Icardi, Lucas Torreira and Nicolo Zaniolo.

As well as the Reds’ two summer signings so far, Thiago’s place is coming under increasing threat from the likes of Curtis Jones, who impressed with England’s victorious Under-21s at the European Championship.

Similarly, Trent Alexander-Arnold is being deployed in a more central position with greater regularity, which could spell danger to the Spanish star’s place in the side.
