Gadkari inaugurates two national highway projects in Vadodara, Gujarat

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday inaugurated two National Highway projects in Vadodara, Gujarat. The projects, with a combined cost of Rs. 48 crore, were initiated with the Bhumi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) a year and a half ago on the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

One of the projects focuses on the improvement of the Ahmedabad-Vadodara section of National Highway 48 near Dumad Chowkdi. Spanning approximately 3 kilometers, this project has been inaugurated at a cost of Rs. 27.01 crore. Gadkari highlighted the construction of new service roads, vehicular underpasses, and RCC (reinforced cement concrete) crash barriers as part of the project. These additions aim to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance safety for commuters.

The second project, costing Rs. 17 crore, stretches about 1 kilometer near Dena Junction on National Highway 48 in Vadodara. Gadkari emphasized the construction of an underpass and service road as integral components of this project.

The minister said under this project, solar powered street lights have been used for the first time on National Highway 48. Polymer Modified Bitumen has been used in the underpass and service road surface which will give it greater strength and better resistance to cracks, he added.

Gadkari further noted the inclusion of a 3-lane service road, a novel addition to the construction. These projects will enhance connectivity for the villages of Dena, Harini, and Virod, thereby ensuring safer traffic conditions in accident-prone areas. Additionally, improved accessibility from industrial areas will facilitate smoother movement.
