Furious Yankees fan compares rival Mets swoop for Carlos Correa to Joe Biden winning 2020 election

A furious New York Yankees fan has sensationally compared the Mets signing Carlos Correa on a $315million deal to Joe Biden winning the 2020 election, just a day after the shortstop was close to signing with another MLB team.

In a wild twist overnight that shocked baseball fans throughout the country, Correa agreed to a 12-year contract with the free-spending Mets after his pending deal with the San Francisco Giants had fallen apart over an undisclosed issue with his physical evaluation.

The Mets are owned by billionaire and financier Steve Cohen.

On Wednesday, just a few hours after the deal had been revealed, a Yankees fan by the name of ‘Dan’ expressed his suspicion on New York-based sports radio WFAN.

‘Hey, good morning. I got a problem with this late night deal for the Mets here. There’s something very fishy about this, okay. I mean, late night deals. I’ve been watching sports my whole life, just like you guys have. When you ever hear of a player failing a physical,’ he told former NFL player Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti, who together form the talk show ‘Boomer and Gio.’

‘He didn’t fail a physical,’ the two radio personalities replied. ‘The doctors cleared him and it was the team that said that they had a problem with it. So the Giants executives had a problem with the doctors disagree with them.’

‘Yeah, but you don’t hear something like this happening and then all of a sudden another team swoops in and gets a high profile player. It’s fishy,’ then said Dan, adding that Cohen hasn’t tweeted anything since November 9 and has also only liked one tweet since then, about the Mets signing Correa on December 12.

And after being specifically asked what it is that he’s uncovering ‘as a member of the baseball FBI’, Dan didn’t hold back.

‘Some type of fraudulent corruption deal,’ he said. ‘This is so similar to Joe Biden being behind certain states in the middle of the night.’

‘Dan, Dan… let’s not compare this to elections alright?,’ one of the two WFAN radio hosts replied after interrupting the fan. ‘What do you think happened? Because this is from a Giants beat reporter, who said that the Giants executives said that they had a problem with the physical and then the doctors disagreed with them.’

‘And then the Giants backed out of the deal and then [Correa] signed with the Mets. So if the Giants come out and say none of that is true and Steve Cohen stole this player from us then maybe you’ll have a point but it doesn’t sound like that’s what’s happening.’

‘You just took words out of my mouth, we don’t fully know the details yet,’ the fan replied. ‘We can’t just go off of a beat reporter. It just seems fishy. I don’t know why the Mets are trying to be the Yankees.’

‘Why are you so mad about this dude? Why are you so mad that Carlos Correa is a Met? What is it about Carlos Correa being a Met that’s making you so angry this morning?,’ Boomer and Gio then asked Dan.

‘Why are the Mets trying to be the Yankees?,’ he replied, before one of the two radio show host explains to him that it’s because ‘they have an owner who’s gotten money and he’s not afraid to spend to win a World Series, dumbo.’

Still adamant that the deal’s ‘fishy’, the fan is then scolded on air for his viewpoints.

‘This deal’s got nothing. You’re fishy. You’re just a big fish head is what you are. Everything about your life is fishy. You’re just salty that the Mets signed Correa.’

Correa, an All-Star shortstop and 2017 World Series champion, is expected to play third base for the Mets, with buddy Francisco Lindor remaining at shortstop. Last season, the 28-year-old played for the Minnesota Twins.

His arrival will also see an increase the Mets’ luxury tax payroll next year to the $385million range, putting them on track to pay a record tax of about $110million — more than double the current high of $44 million set by the 2015 Los Angeles Dodgers.

The estimates would change if Correa’s deal contains deferred money or if New York trades players.
