Foxconn: Foxconn ramps up hiring at the world’s biggest iPhone factory ahead of iPhone 15 release – Times of India
The strict lockdown situation in China earlier caused the situation of unrest at the world’s biggest iPhone factory, forcing workers to leave. Now, the factory is in need of workers.
Recruiting agencies in Zhengzhou are proactively creating a talent pool to meet the upcoming peak season requirements, as shared by the recruiter. The supplier is currently hiring permanent employees and short-term workers. The hourly rate for both positions is 21.5 yuan (around Rs 240).
A unit of Foxconn called the Product Enclosure Business Group, the unit which is in charge of producing parts for the iPhone, located in Zhengzhou, is offering a bonus of 8,000 yuan ($1,105) to former employees who return to work on the assembly line during busy seasons.
The company is also offering incentives to staff who refer new workers by offering them a 1,000 yuan (around Rs 11,000) reward for each successful referral. Further, individuals who join during the peak season under a referral and remain employed for at least four months will receive a one-time bonus of 7,000 yuan (around Rs 79,000).
Recruitment posts also reveal that Foxconn’s Shenzhen plant, located in southern China is also offering a bonus of up to 6,980 yuan (around Rs 79,000) for new employees.
Foxconn is expanding its workforce, signalling that China might continue to be an important manufacturing hub for Apple.
This is despite Apple and its suppliers increasing production capacity in other countries like India and Vietnam due to tensions between the US and China. Apple is diversifying its supply chain, Foxconn will be building two more buildings at its Chennai facility in Tamil Nadu to produce iPhones.
