Former NFL player earns knockout win at UFC’s DWCS (Video).

Austin Lane walks out of the Octagon on season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series with a stoppage in the first round. Lane was last seen on DWCS season 2 when he fought a fellow NFL star turned MMA fighter, Greg Hardy.

On Tuesday night Lane got his second shot at a UFC contract when he stepped in to face Richard Jacobi. After a major flub with a big groin strike in the opening moments of the round Lane was able to capitalize on control and earn a ground-and-pound finish, and likely the contract he was hoping for.

Austin Lane now holds 12 professional MMA wins

Lane is an all-round athlete, recognized as the former NFL defensive end for Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears. Shortly after his win he leaned into the camera and yelled “Duuuuval” the battle cry for the Jaguars.

Dana White’s Contender Series takes place on Tuesday nights from the UFC APEX and streams live on ESPN+. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is onsite for results and highlights.
