Former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita completes move to Werder Bremen on a three-year deal after leaving Anfield as a free agent
Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has joined Werder Bremen as a free agent after agreeing a three-year deal with the German club.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter on Friday to announce the news with the player having already undergone his medical tests.
‘Official, completed. Naby Keita is new Werder Bremen player on free deal!’ he wrote.
Keita joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for a fee of £48m in 2017 and went on to feature 129 times in five seasons, contirbuting 11 goals and seven assists.
During that time he helped his side win every trophy available, the Reds claiming the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, each on one occasion.

The 28-year-old was a key player for Jurgen Klopp but started just two Premier League games this season, largely due to two significant injuries.
The Reds are clearly in need of a big rebuild after what was a bitterly disappointing campaign and Keita could be one of many to make way.
The news comes after Liverpool completed the signing of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister on Thursday.
Keita was given a guard of honour following Liverpool’s final home game of the season against Aston Villa.
