837 players involved in the World Cup will receive a daily amount of $10,950, regardless of the amount of minutes they played. This is a big increase compared to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where players received $8,530 each. The payment will be split up and disbursed to the clubs where the players were registered in two years in the build up to the Qatar World Cup.

Almost 46 English clubs will be the largest beneficiaries as they are bound to receive $37,713,297 combined. Clubs from Spain, Italy, Germany, and France follow the English clubs. The huge number of clubs demonstrates the widespread impact of the tournament.

English champions, Manchester City will receive a whopping $4,596,445, the highest out of every club. Barcelona follow second with $4,538,955 and Bayern Munich are third with $4,331,809. FIFA has signed an agreement with European Club Association that says $355 million will be distributed among clubs for the upcoming 2026 and 2030 World Cups. This agreement emphasises FIFA’s commitment to compensating clubs for facilitating the participation of their players in future tournaments.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina won the Qatar World Cup in 2022, beating PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe’s France in the final, with the contest being decided in the penalties due to a thrilling 3-3 draw at the end of extra time.
