Florence Pugh has delivered a series of stand-out red-carpet moments this year, from the sequined tulle confection she wore on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in May to her sheer pink gown at Valentino’s haute couture show in Rome in July. The common thread between them? The actor’s close relationship with the Italian fashion house’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
For the British Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall, Pugh opted for another Valentino design: namely, a backless red gown featuring a dramatic train. Paired with slicked back hair and a deep berry lipstick, it was the perfect look to kick off festive season with—combined with a dash of punk that’s now become the Don’t Worry Darling star’s beauty signature.
Pugh has previously spoken of her love of Valentino, including after the London premiere of The Wonder, which saw her wearing a boudoir-inspired number. “Unbelievable craftsmanship went into the making of this gown,” she wrote on Instagram. “Wearing [Pierpaolo Piccioli] dresses [is] so easy, I step into his elegant designs and become alive. I thank every hand that helped this creation at Valentino, and to all those who helped me step onto that carpet. Thank you for making me feel my best, for filling me with confidence and love.
