Five arrested for allegedly circulating Udaipur murder video, armed photographs

Five protesters were arrested on Monday at the Hanumangarh police station for allegedly creating and sharing a video of the beheading in Udaipur that went viral on social media and horrified the public.

Tarsem Puri (26), Mahavir Prasad (35), Rahmat Ali, Iqbal Hussain (36), and Pitambar Lal have been named as the accused (21).

According to Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, Puri, Jat, and Shakur were detained by officers from the Sangaria police station while Kumar was detained by officers from the Sadar police station.

“The accused Mahavir Prasad (35), resident of Ward No. 3 Dabli Vas Maulvi Thana Sadar and Rahmat Ali were arrested after ASI Lalchand of the team formed under the leadership of SHO Sadar Chandrabhan made the photo viral with another person’s licensed weapon on social media,” he added.

“The accused Sirajuddin’s son Iqbal Hussain (36), resident of ward number 36 of the police station area, has been arrested for making the video of the Udaipur incident viral on social media on Monday…….. Similarly, on Monday, the accused Pitambar Lal (21) resident of Ward No. 16 police station Nohar was arrested by SHO Nohar Ravinder Singh and his team….” he continued as reported by ANI.

An outraged mob beat the two key suspects in the murder of an Udaipur tailor earlier on Saturday outside the National Investigation Agency (NIA) courthouse in Jaipur.

Notably, till July 12, the four suspects in the Udaipur murder case—including the two main suspects, Mohammad Riyaz and Ghouse Mohammad—are being held in NIA custody.

Two men beheaded a man on June 28 in Udaipur’s Maldas street neighbourhood. A few days prior, the deceased posted on social media in support of suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma.

The two men also threatened the life of PM Modi in a video they posted where they boasted about the beheading.

Residents in the area were outraged by the occurrence, which occurred in broad daylight. Following the incident, stores in the Udaipur neighbourhood of Maldas street have been closed.
