FIRs against Dilip Ghosh over offensive remarks about Mamata Banerjee

Following BJP National vice-President Dilip Ghosh’s derogatory comments about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, two FIRs have been lodged against Ghosh at Eco Park and Contai Police stations in Kolkata. A eight-member AITC delegation-led by Minister Bratya Basu will meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to apprise him about the issue.

Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dostidar, who was part of the delegation, said, “We have met Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and apprised him about Dilip Ghosh’s comment, who made derogatory comments and spoke about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It is unacceptable. We demand action against Ghosh.”

Trinamool Minister Bratya Basu, Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghoshdastidar, Noyna Bandopadhyay, state general secretary Kunal Ghosh, MLA Tapas Roy, among others, were part of the Trinamool delegation.

“The ruling party of the state sent a delegation to Raj Bhawan and the delegation interacted with me for more than an hour. They submitted a representation about an observation made by a Parliamentarian against Chief Minister. I assured the delegation that I will look into the matter. I utilized the opportunity to tell them that we are in a state that is cause of concern. We need to work hard. Right now, we have witnessed unprecedented violence…” the Bengal Governor said, after meeting the Trinamool delegation.

After the meeting with Trinamool delegation, Governor tweeted, “Delegation @AITCofficial sought intervention at remarks made against CM was assured of consideration. Indicated to delegation concerns at worrisome Constitutional transgressions, insensitive stance towards human rights and need for working in tandem for public good.”

Ghosh, during a session at a media conclave organized by a media house, spoke about several issues about Bengal and made derogatory comments about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s family lineage and her parents.

Dilip Ghosh, who was censured recently by BJP central leadership, and known for creating controversy, claimed today, “I have made comments and have called a thief a thief. Trinamool is a party of corrupt people, thieves and dacoits. Let them understand the power of BJP.”
