Filmmaker-Actor Rahul Mittra joins Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh for Imtiaz Ali’s film Chamkila – Times of India

A while ago, it was known that Parineeti Chopra is set to be a part of Imtiaz Ali’s next, ‘Chamkila’ along with Diljit Dosanjh. The film is based on Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur who are considered to be the greatest singers of all times. They were assassinated in 1988 along with the members of their musical band. Reports also suggested that Parineeti Chopra had opted out of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’. Parineeti will be seen as Amarjot while Diljit will essay the role of Chamkila.

Now the latest development on the film is that actor and filmmaker Rahul Mittra has joined the film’s cast. As per sources, the Mittra joined the crew on Friday and commenced shooting for the film. It was also Diljit’s birthday that day. Incidentally, Mittra has witnessed terrorism in Chandigarh when he was in a kid in the 80s and it was the same time when Amarjot and Chamkila were assassinated.

Mittra will also be seen in the series, ‘Inspector Avinash’ alongside Randeep Hooda. The actor is also a part of the biopic on Jaswant Singh Khalra alongside Arjun Rampal and Dijit again. Mittra also has ‘File No 323’ along with Suniel Shetty, Anurag Kashyap, Divya Dutta and Isha Gupta lined up.

While Diljit will be seen next in ‘Chamkila’ he recently revealed in an interview with Hindustan Times that, he rejected a big film from his favourite director’s production house because he didn’t see himself in it. He further added that he doesn’t do something just for the sake of money, he does it only if he feels like doing it.
