Film distributor Manoj Desai on #BoycottPathaan: Both Hindus and Muslims will watch Shah Rukh Khan’s film – Times of India

The trailer of Pathaan was released recently and it received a tremendous response from fans all around the globe. However, the film has had its share of controversies when its first song Besharam Rang was released. Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini hurt the sentiments of religious groups and there were calls for boycott of the film unless the saffron bikini scene was edited out. The saffron brigade misinterpreted the lyrics, took offense and asserted that such an ‘insult to the saffron colour will not be tolerated’. SC lawyer Vineet Jindal filed a complaint with I&B Ministry citing the song hurts religious sentiments of Hindus.
Veteran film distributor and owner of G7 multiplex in Bandra, Manoj Desai has said in an interview that this #BoycottPathaan trend is nothing but some kind of propaganda. He further affirmed to Bollywood Hungama that an equal number of Hindus and Muslims will watch Shah Rukh Khan’s film.

The advance bookings of Pathaan are yet to begin. So there is nothing Desai could say about the impact of these protests yet.
Meanwhile, the trailer of Pathaan was showcased in Dubai on Saturday. SRK’s fan clubs shared some videos and pictures from the location in which the the actor was heard saying, “Party rakhoge to mehman navazi ke liye Pathaan to ayega aur sath mein pathaake bhi layega.”

The trailer showcases Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika as spy agents standing against a powerful enemy, played by John Abraham, who is planning a big attack on India.

Shah Rukh will also be seen in filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki opposite Taapsee Pannu and Atlee’s Jawan, which will hit the theatres on June 2 this year.
