Fatima Sana Shaikh takes help from books and documentaries to step into the shoes of Indira Gandhi in Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Sam Bahadur’ – Times of India
Talking about how the actress has been doing extensive research work to nail the character, a source close to the actress shared, “Fatima has been reading a number of books on Indira Gandhi to understand her better, and get an idea of her regime as the Prime Minister. She also has got her hands on various documentaries to get the nuances and mannerisms of her character right. It is a responsible role and Fatima wants to do full justice to it.”
Interestingly, Fatima who has already essayed the real-life character of Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ was among the first choices for ‘Sam Bahadur’, all thanks to her confidence and grit. Previously, a source had said, “It is indeed challenging taking on the role of one of the most influential and talked about women in Indian history. But then again, Fatima has proven to rise to the challenge when she played Geeta Phogat, who won India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games, in Dangal. Strong female characters are truly up her alley and we can’t wait to see the magic she creates in Sam Bahadur.”
Meanwhile, besides ‘Sam Bahadur’, Fatima who was last seen in ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’ also has an unnamed projected in her kitty. While makers are yet to officially announce, it’s believed that she will be sharing the screenspace with Anil Kapoor in the same.
