Fan who caught Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ‘bodied everyone out’ of the way

Dallas-based Yankees fan Ashin Rangani was in the right spot on Tuesday night to catch Aaron Judge’s historic 62nd home run of the season, only to get ‘bodied out’ by another spectator for the souvenir valued at $2 million.

‘I’m telling you, I was sure,’ Rangani told the New York Post after Judge set the American League home run record at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas. ‘There was nobody next to me. And he did a good job. He bodied everyone out and he had a glove. I didn’t see him coming at all. He caught it right in front of me.’

Rangani had been recording the entire sequence until the ball approached his vicinity in the left-field stands.

‘At that point, I was in shock,’ he said. ‘I recorded everything right until it was maybe 20 feet away. Threw my phone down and then I was kind of shaking. When he went over and caught it, I had a little bit of, ‘That was me! That’s mine!’ But also shaking in excitement and just being part of history.’

Cory Youmans, the fan who allegedly bodied Rangani out of position for the homer, has already turned down offers of $2million, according to Front Office Sports. Youmans isn’t exactly starved for cash. As vice president of Fisher Investments, he helps manage $197 billion in worldwide assets, USA Today reported.

After catching the ball, Youmans was quickly surrounded by security and taken away.

‘He was real nervous,’ Rangani said. ‘He was shaking and pale. I went over there and we were just jumping and celebrating together.’

Rangani did not seem upset, though.

Instead, as seen in a self-shot video, Rangani appeared to be celebrating Yousmans’ good fortune.

‘This dude caught this s*** right here,’ Rangani said. ‘He caught it! He caught it!’

As he told the Post, Rangani’s tickets had been purchased by his boss, who was being held at the top of Section 31 until Judge’s at-bat was over. As it turned out, the ball sailed directly to the seat belonging to Rangani’s boss.

‘[My boss] was waiting at the top of the steps [of section 31] because they wouldn’t let him down the steps until Judge was done batting because of the anticipation,’ Rangani said. ‘It came right where he was sitting, but what can you do?’

Another fan took a huge fall from their outfield seat in an attempt to catch the ball, but missed it by a wide margin.

JP Cohen, the president of Memory Lane, reportedly put out the $2 million offer before Judge set the record.

Youmans was asked was asked what he was going to do with the ball after he secured the valuable artifact. ‘That’s a good question, I haven’t thought about it,’ he said.

But Youmans might not need the cash as he is a Vice-President of Fisher Investments, which manages $197 billion worldwide, according to USA Today

Youmans happens to be the husband of Dallas sports reporter and Bachelor Nation alum Bri Amaranthus.

Amaranthus celebrated her husband’s mega-money catch on social media as she quote tweeted a video of Youmans being whisked away by security, writing: ‘THIS IS MY HUSBAND’.

She later posted a photo of the ball to her Instagram story, adding: ‘That’s my man. @thejudge44 #62.’

Amaranthus covers the Dallas Mavericks and Cowboys for Sports Illustrated. She was previously a host and reporter for NBC Sports Northwest, and was a contestant on the 22nd season of ‘The Bachelor,’ in 2018.

After Amaranthus’ short run on the reality television show, she went on to marry Youmans in June 2021. The pair married after more than a year of engagement when Youmans popped the question while at a resort in Hawaii in February 2020.

The love birds now live in a high-rise luxury apartment in Dallas, Texas where rent ranges from $2,300 to $8,250 per month, according to Apartment List.

Most of the units showcase a spectacular view of the city in the living room, bathroom and bedroom.

Residents can enjoy a fully equipped gym and an outdoor resort-style pool that Amaranthus appears to spend a good amount of time at.

The duo’s luxury life seems to extend outside their home as they are often seen on yachts in Mexico, on a boat in Lake Travis, on the beaches of Hawaii, or on a private jet.

One of their reoccurring vacation spots appears to be in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where they tied the knot.

Judge tied the 61-year record last week against the Blue Jays, before Yankees fans who wanted to see him break the record at home against the Orioles were left disappointed.

He finally made history Tuesday night against Jesus Tinoco of the Texas Rangers in the second game of a double header.

Teammates gathered to meet Judge at home plate after the homer, and he took off his helmet as he walked back to the dugout to acknowledge the fans.

The fans at the Globe Life Field also gave No. 99 a standing ovation at the bottom of the inning as he took to the field.
