Face Forward: redefining the Vogue cover
The exhibition features some of the most powerful, diverse covers from all global editions of Vogue. An example of how the “normalizing” effect that the repeated exposure could produce in relation to the content of the images can be used in pushing for a more diverse, just visual world.
This collection shows how important the work Vogue has done over many decades has been and can be, the reach that the magazine has, and how it can be influential in helping to build a better, more culturally inclusive world. The exhibition is part print and part digital, with a slideshow of all the covers.
“We are pleased to showcase the Vogue covers that have celebrated and expanded beliefs about how beauty is defined. In Vogue, difference is beautiful.”
Yashica Olden – Senior Vice President People, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer of Condé Nast
“Fashion is a language spoken mainly through life and photography – and the latter can be a powerful storytelling tool to overcome issues of representation. This is particularly evident looking at all the covers from our global editions of Vogue. We are taking a stand, celebrating how beautiful and diverse the world really is.”
Edward Enninful – European Editorial Director of Vogue
